# Astroe.io

> Astroe.io is a free multiplayer 2D space battle game played in a web browser
> with no download or install. Players fly a ship through an asteroid field,
> destroy enemy ships, collect gold for upgrades, and either capture satellites
> for their team or fight in a 50-player free-for-all.

Astroe.io is developed by Dan Phillips and published by Superstruct. It is free
to play, supported by advertising and optional Patreon backing. Signing in is
optional. The game requires WebGL and WebSockets and is built for desktop
browsers with a mouse and keyboard.

## Game modes

- **Satellites**: Two teams, red and green. Capture all 12 satellites on the
  map. Up to 30 players per game. Captured satellites fire on enemy ships and
  can be upgraded with gold.
- **Free For All**: No teams. Up to 50 players. The game restarts every 6 hours.

## Controls

- Left mouse button or SHIFT: fire lasers
- Right mouse button or SPACE: main engine
- Arrow keys or WASD: directional engines
- CTRL (Windows) or COMMAND (Mac) with +/- or mouse wheel: zoom the map

## Powerups

- Health pack: heals your ship
- Shield pack: creates a shield around your ship
- Invisibility: 10 seconds, cancelled if your ship fires or takes damage
- Speed boost: 10 seconds
- Double damage: 10 seconds

## Upgrades

Destroy asteroids and enemy ships to collect gold. Spend gold to upgrade your
ship, or in Satellites mode to upgrade satellites your team controls.

## Capturing satellites

Fly into a satellite's circular capture area and remain inside it. The contest
bar fills toward your team colour while no enemy ship contests the same area.
An enemy inside the area stalls the capture, so clear defenders first.

## Servers

Game servers run in New York, Singapore and Germany.
